hotel room interior decoration
how do big hotels/buildings finance construction of new buildings?

I was in Shanghai the other day at the inauguration of a new hotel by the river called ‘Grand Melia’ I was THOROUGHLY impressed by the lavish interior decoration, the intricately decorated rooms, lobbies and attention to detail.

The plot alone next to the river would have cost tens of millions of dollars and then the building itself would have cost MUCH more.

I could not help but wonder how they (and other hotels and such buildings) are financed?

For the most part it starts with investors with very deep pockets—if the company is publically held-smaller fish-the stockholders–also come into play…The government or town may offer hefty incentives to create jobs and growth….Then like any other deal—a bank comes into play—they borrow and mortgage on a large scale..Rogue investors may put money up to wash illegal gains and try to look legit….Donald Trump wrote a book—sorry I don’t remember the name—that goes into detail about how big business like this works.
