Do you tip for room service if a delivery charge and gratuity are already added?
The room service menu at my hotel says there that 18% gratuity, sales tax, and a $2 delivery charge will be added to my bill. Do I still need to tip the delivery guy a few extra dollars?
The “gratuity” is already the tip. Don’t make the mistake of tipping again, even if the delivery person stands there with their hand out, etc. Sadly, it’s an old trick – and you shouldn’t fall for it. 18% is darned high for service that you haven’t had the chance to judge for yourself. Over-tipping is the sign of a novice and it’s wasted money because it seldom makes the service actually any better. You’re smart to ask about this before you get stung!
